Australian Bush Babies

Denomination of $1.45 is: Koala (Phascolarctos), one of Australia's iconic animals is found in the eastern Australian states excluding Tasmania. Koalas spend most of their life in eucalypt trees which also provide the species entire diet. Females produce one young each year, which is born after a one month gestation period. After six months the young Koala emerges but is not weaned for another six months. The young Koala is carried on its mother's back until it weight around two kilograms.

Denomination of $2.10 is: Eastern Grey Kangaroo (Macropus giganteus), is a large kangaroo second in size only to the Red Kangaroo. It frequents a wide variety of habitats, from high mountain forests to semi-arid rangelands in the eastern states. It is the only kangaroo species found in Tasmania.

Denomination of $2.90 is: Brushtail Possum (Trichosurus vulpecular), is familiar to many urban dwelling people as it has successfully adapted to life in highly populated areas. Its natural habitat extends over much of Australia, from rainforests to dry eucalypt woodlands, but it has disappeared from much of its former range.

Denomination of $4.20 is: Common Wombat (Vombatus ursinus), has a backward-opening pouch. It is found in south eastern Australia, including Tasmania. Its habitat is varied, ranging from coastal forest to alpine woodland and grassland. Wombats build burrows, leaving a mound of excavated earth outside the entrance.
