New Christmas stamp from Aland

PDF Print E-mail
This year's Christmas stamp motif is that of an angel, to many people the symbol of Christmas.

The artist, Eva-Jo Hancock first created an angel from textile, paper and other materials before photographing the merry angel which now appears on the stamp. The angel holds a heart in her hand, and the snowflakes as well as the Earth beneath are issued with glittering holograms.

The denomination of the stamp 'Julpost 08' implies that the stamp can be used as postage for Christmas greetings to Aland, Finland and Sweden at a reduced price during a limited period of time in November and December. If the postage for Christmas cards increases in the future, so does also the value of the stamp 'Julpost 08'.

The stamps are due to be released on the 8th November 2008.
