Pagsanjan Falls Stamp - Error

PDF Print E-mail
On 3rd May, 1932 United States issued a set of seven stamps showing places of interest and landmarks in the Philippines, which is the part of US Territory at that time.

In this set there is a stamp with 18c value, with description of 'Pagsanjan Falls', which is intended to display an image of Pagsanjan Falls; a tourist attraction in Laguana Province in the Philippines. But the image on the stamp is actually of Vernal Fall in California. This is a notable postage design error printed in the United States.

The error came because the engraver intentionally used a photograph of Vernal Fall as the basis for the image on the stamp.

- Mrs. Nagalakshmi Tadakaluri, Philatelist.
