Germany Issues Kafka Stamp

PDF Print E-mail
Deutsche Post have issued a stamp honoring Franz Kafka, on the date of his 125th birth anniversary.

Franz Kafka was one of the major German-language fiction writers of the 20th century. He was born to a middle-class Jewish family in Prague.

His stories, such as The Metamorphosis, and novels, including The Trial and The Castle, concern troubled individuals in a nightmarishly impersonal and bureaucratic world.

Due to his Jewish connections, Germany has had a troubled past and has never before celebrated the authors work. The issue has been released with a huge wave of publicity, which has seemed hipocritical to some historians!
