Trindad and Tobago Olympic Souvenir Stamp Sheet

PDF Print E-mail
Trindad and Tobago has issued a four-stamp miniature sheet to commemorate the upcoming 2008 Summer Olympics to be held this August in Beijing.

They are one of many countries releasing stamps for the event, and the the olympic games stamps has made the basis of a collection for many philatelists.

Sales of olympic stamps are feared to be lower than ever before. The main reason is the decline of collectors worldwide, as the hobby slumps to a new low point. The other reason, as suggested by some experts, is that many people are refusing to acknowledge the Olympics, due to the human rights issues surrounding China.

Another spokesman contradicted the previous statement, by saying that "Philatelic items are collectable regardless of political events. We do not believe sales wil be affected in any way, and if the events are as controversial as suggested, then sales may actually increase!"
