NASA 50th Anniversary stamps

PDF Print E-mail
Gibraltar is to celebrate NASA's achievements by issuing a miniature sheet with four stamps depicting one of the most loved and memorable moments of the 20th Century. It commemorates the moment when the Apollo 11 mission set off to land the first man on the moon.

A spokesman states "As NASA's new goal is to have astronauts back on the moon by 2020, what better way to pay tribute than to recall the last trip!"

Questions have been raised as to why Gibralter should wish to issue these stamps, and rumours are in circulation that it may be due to possible links with the European Space Program. The stamps may be commemorative, but seem to have a political edge to them!

The stamps have currently been given a preliminary release date of 15th September 2008.
