Birth of stamp collecting PDF Print E-mail
With the birth of stamps came the birth of stamp collectors or philatelists as they have become known. Shortly after adhesive postage stamps were introduced by Great Britain in 1840, people began collecting them. In 1841, a women even placed an advertisement in the London Times in which she requested help in collecting stamps so that she could paper a bedroom wall.

Sinatra Stamp Unveiled In America. PDF Print E-mail
A new US postage stamp honoring legendary entertainer Frank Sinatra goes on sale on the 10th anniversary of his death. The stamp depicts Sinatra's charismatic smile, trademark fedora and striking blue eyes that earned him the nickname "Ol' Blue Eyes", along with Sinatra's autograph which also appears on the stamp.

Holy Stamps Released. PDF Print E-mail
A set of commemorative stamps has been released, to celebrate the "Holy Glory” of the great cathedrals of the UK. They were prompted by complaints from the church for the lack of religious stamps currently issued. It was traditional that Christmas Stamps contained a religious theme, but this has not always been the case over the past few years.
