British Council 50th Anniversary – 1984 Stamps PDF Print E-mail

This was a set of four stamps, released on the 25th September 1984. The British Council is listed as a non ministerial department of the United Kingdom Government which specialises in educational opportunities. It is a public corporation developed with a Royal Charter, and is a registered charity. It was founded in 1934 and one of its patrons is Queen Elizabeth II. Its income comes from government grants and charity events while its biggest donator is the National Lottery fund.

The 17p depicts a Nigerian Clinic, 22p a Violinist at the Acropolis in Athens, 31p a Building Project in Sri Lanka and the 34p depicts a student in the British Council Library.
