Endangered Species Insects Stamps – April 2008 PDF Print E-mail
April 15th sees the release of a set of 10 stamps commemorating insects found throughout the UK. They will be issued in a block of ten, and also in smiler sheets. The block format leaves the door open for the release of booklets although this has not been confirmed.

The stamps depict an Adonis Blue Butterfly, Southern Damselfly, Red Barbed Ant, Barberry Carpet Moth, Stag Beetle, Hazel Pot Beetle, Field Cricket, Silver-Spotted Skipper, Purbeck Mason Wasp and a Noble Chafer Beetle.

The stamps are designed very simply with a white background, and a close up photograph of the insect. This is complimented by the value and Queen’s head is silver, forming very striking images.
