| European Music Year – Europa – 1985 Stamps. |

|
This was a set of four stamps, released on the 14th May 1985, designed by W. McLean. This issue was part of the Europa release, whereby all member countries would produce stamps with the same topic. Music was chosen as the main theme, which coincided with the 300th anniversary of the birth of George Frideric Handel. The stamps were once again square shaped, a format which was becoming more popular. They featured images designed from the themes associated with the music. The 17p depicted Water Music by George Frideric Handel, 22p The Planets Suite by Gustav Holst, 31p The First Cuckoo by Frederick Delius, and the 34p Sea Pictures by Edward Elgar. Mark Steele |
